Integrate Your Social Media Marketing

Integrating your online marketing with your social media can be more complex and involved than it is offline. It also has more possibilities because it's all on the same medium.
When integrating your social media marketing with your other online marketing efforts be sure to utilize your 4 basic internet marketing methods.
Do you use email marketing? If so then there are ways to use social media to enhance what you're doing and help bring attention to your social presence:
- Use JD supra docs Email Signup app on your Facebook fan page to get people to sign up for your newsletter.
- Build an FBML tab on your page that lets people why the want to sign up and have your sign up form in there.
- Talk about the bonus content, offers, etc you get from the newsletter on twitter and send out the link.
- Promote your social media accounts or presence in the emails
- In your newsletter add sharing options to get your readers friends to sign up
Do you use PPC? If so then you know that one of the most important parts of your PPC campaign is to have properly optimized landing pages. These are great places to integrate.
- You probably spent a lot of time and effort on your landing pages so integrate social sharing
- Create trackable links you can share that lead to those pages
- Link to them from your accounts
- Promote your social presence on these pages to let interested parties know where they can find more
- Link to them from blog posts
Is SEO something you're concerned about? It should be. It's important to know how the search engines work, what they see, what they don't, and how to be found by them.
- Optimize every piece of content on your blog, profiles, site, etc.
- Promote your social presence on your optimized content.
- Enable social sharing on all of your optimized content
- Share the content through your profiles to bring more awareness to it.
- Create a content strategy that works with your profiles and how they are used.
Are you using Media Buys? Banner ads, tower ads, content shared via content networks, etc?
- Add your profile links to the ads (where applicable)
- Help build trust by telling them exactly where to talk to you before they need to
- Use your YouTube videos in interactive ads (re-use content).
- Have the ads lead to your landing pages which have been optimized and integrated
- Use the ads as a conversation starter and build that conversation via your social media presence
Just like with the offline, get creative. Look at how the pieces fit together and figure out the best way to approach it all.
