Utah Angel Investor of the Year Award: Call for Nominations

Announcing the Inaugural Angel Investor of the Year Award Luncheon: May 27, 2009

FundingUniverse is now accepting nominations for individuals worthy to be named the Utah Angel Investor of the Year. Utah's angel investors play an integral role in funding early-stage companies that will create jobs and stimulate the economy. In an effort to recognize those individuals, FundingUniverse is organizing the first annual Utah Angel Investor of the Year Award Luncheon on May 27, 2009. This award is designed to feature those angel investors who are making a difference in the Utah community.

Brock Blake, CEO of FundingUniverse, understands the importance of angel investors in the economy. "Utah has historically been a Mecca for entrepreneurs and start-up businesses. For the past four years FundingUniverse has provided a platform to help connect investors and entrepreneurs and, as a result, helped many companies receive angel financing to start and grow their business," Blake said. "Through FundingUniverse's relationship with the investment community, we understand the unprecedented importance that angel investors have in the economic growth of the local community and are excited to recognize these investors in a meaningful way."

Speaking on the important role angels play, serial entrepreneur and FamilyLink.com CEO Paul Allen said, "Angels play an essential part of our free market economy. They back the entrepreneurs who build the companies that create the jobs that make our nation strong. Without angels, none of my companies would have gone as far as they did--and some would have failed completely. Since September, in the worst economic climate I've ever seen, FamilyLink has raised money from ten angel investors, turned profitable, and is now hiring lots of new employees."
