The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) would like to showcase several powerhouse companies who made a great impact on Utah’s economy in 2007. These great companies are just a sample of the many businesses expanding or relocating to the “most dynamic state” in the country.

#2 - Barnes Aerospace
Market: Aerospace & Aviation/ Manufacturing
Location: Ogden, Weber County
Type: Expansion

Barnes Aerospace is a manufacturer and repairer of highly engineered assemblies and products for aircraft engines, airframes and land based industrial gas turbines. Barnes fits into the Aerospace and Aviation cluster for the State.

Barnes Aerospace has had a presence in Northern Utah for a number of years, but this plant expansion will both retain and bring new high tech manufacturing jobs to the area.
The plant will develop new products for the aerospace industry, competing with locations worldwide. The fact that Utah secured the plant is a testament of the high quality workforce and the business friendly State which Utah has worked very hard to become.

Project Highlights:

  • 474 new full-time employees in Weber County
  • Retain 145 existing jobs in Ogden
  • New State Revenue: $3,496,000 over 10 years, $7,927,000 over 15 years
  • New State Wages: $68,303,000 over 10 years, $150,221,000 over 15 years
  • Capital Investment: $11,800,000
