Brigham Young University Broadcasting announced it has appointed broadcasting industry professionals Andra Johnson Duke as Director of Content and Ian Puente as Director of Operations and Strategy.
"After completing a thorough nationwide search for the best candidates to fill the Director of Content role, as well as the newly created position of Director of Operations and Strategy, we are pleased to announce the hiring of such high caliber candidates as Andra and Ian," said Michael Dunn, managing director of BYUtv. "Their combined experience at BBC Worldwide Productions, EPIX and Samuel Goldwyn Films will significantly impact both our original and acquired content, as well as help us to continue to fulfill our commitment to produce quality, family entertainment programming for a variety of audiences. Ms. Duke comes to BYUB from BBC Worldwide Productions in Los Angeles where she was the Vice President of Unscripted Production. In that role, she oversaw a variety of television series across multiple networks from development through production. Prior to the BBC, she worked in various producer roles with GRB Entertainment in Sherman Oaks, Calif. and at BYU Broadcasting, as well as Kaleidoscope Pictures in Provo, Utah. Ms. Duke is a graduate of BYU and she and her husband, Steve, have three children.
Mr. Puente has been hired in a newly created position at BYUB, Director of Operations and Strategy. He was formerly with EPIX, a premium movie and programming service in New York, where he was the senior vice president of business and legal affairs. His previous industry experience includes stints with Samuel Goldwyn Films and Sony Pictures Classics. Mr. Puente is a graduate of BYU, the University of Oxford and Columbia University school of law. He and his wife Melissa have four boys and a girl.
BYUtv's original programming slate includes the long-running sketch comedy series Studio C, which has an extraordinary following of over 1.3 million subscribers on YouTube; Relative Race, the first family-history based competitive reality show that follows four couples as they meet relatives linked by DNA for the first time in a race across the States, now in its second season; Random Acts, an unscripted hidden-camera reality show that highlights the altruistic nature of human beings by featuring real people who are the recipients of random acts of kindness; and the upcoming new SciFi series Extinct.
