The 2017 Utah Global Forum will feature CNN Contributor Ana Navarro and U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Javier Palomarez as keynote speakers. The event, hosted by Gov. Gary R. Herbert, will take place Oct. 17 at the Grand America Hotel.

“Having two nationally recognized keynote speakers at this year’s Global Forum will give attendees a richer understanding of issues impacting international trade,” said Derek B. Miller, president and CEO of World Trade Center Utah. “Ana Navarro’s remarks will go behind the headlines to provide insightful context around current affairs, while Javier will highlight how diversity can improve a company’s bottom line.”

The Utah Global Forum is the state’s premier international business event. The half-day forum offers learning opportunities for companies at all stages of the export process. Breakout sessions will focus on the forum theme of “Prosperity Through Diversity,” which includes diversity of markets, people, finance and resources.

Fast-paced Power Presentations will cover timely topics including how current events influence financial markets, how technology is changing the global business landscape, what it means to leverage a made in America brand and how Utah is performing internationally.

“Our state is one of the best places to grow a business, and the Utah Global Forum will help companies reach beyond our borders for more opportunities,” said Val Hale, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). “We enjoy a prosperous economy, and diversity in the state that will secure prosperity for generations.”

The Utah Global Forum is a joint effort between World Trade Center Utah, GOED and the Salt Lake Chamber. In 2016, Utah exports totaled $12.1 billion. Top export commodities include metals, computer and electronic products, chemicals, food and kindred products and transportation equipment.

"In the changing global economy, it is imperative that those Utah companies looking to compete learn the necessary skills to go beyond our borders and succeed. The Utah Global Forum has been an effective conduit for moving Utah businesses into the global marketplace. The Salt Lake Chamber is proud to be a partner of this wonderful event,” said Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber.
