Love Communications took home two branding awards at the Beverage Tasting Institute’s 2016 World Beer Championships Packaging Competition.

Love was awarded the Bronze Medal in the Creativity category for fresh and original conception and execution, as well as the Graphic Design category for images, text and arrangement.

Each year, Tastings offers the opportunity for breweries and design firms to showcase their brands' designs. It calls upon the most seasoned drinks trade panelists to analyze and rate hundreds of beer bottles, labels, six packs, cases, and gift boxes and determine who excelled in the important area of packaging.

When Love was initially tasked with branding the new cidery from the ground up, it aimed to truly represent Utah by tapping into its history, landscape and reputation of the region. From the names, to the crossroads represented in the logo, Mountain West Cider’s brand shows people the West isn’t just for beer anymore.

“From the beginning, our team had fun working on this project, as Mountain West Cider is great to work with, and this is definitely an area we specialize in,” said Chip Haskell, creative director of Love Communications. “Few things attract visitors to Utah quite like the natural beauty of its canyons and surrounding mountain views. In the beginning, these canyons served as a means for travel to help connect new people to new land, and Mountain West Cider pays tribute to that as another means of connecting individuals – because we all know some of the best friendships begin at a bar.”
