SALT LAKE CITY—Thirty-four innovations have been selected as finalists or honorable mention recipients in the seventh annual Utah Innovation Awards, presented by Stoel Rives LLP and the Utah Technology Council. This statewide program, the first of its kind and sponsored by Issimo Productions, is designed to recognize innovations and the Utah companies that created them. Winners will be announced, and finalists and honorable mention recipients will be honored at a special Awards Luncheon on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Little America Hotel. A committee of more than 70 experts from Utah’s private industry, government and academic communities selected the winners and finalists in each of the program’s nine categories: Biotechnology/Pharmaceuticals, Chemical/Material Science, Clean Technology and Energy, Computer Hardware/Electrical Devices, Consumer Software, Enterprise Business-to-Business Software, Mechanical Devices, Medical Devices and Outdoor Products (NEW THIS YEAR).
In addition to identifying finalists, the Selection Committee also identified innovations worthy of honorable mention (note: honorable mentions were not awarded to innovations in every category). The April 30 awards event begins at 11:00 am with finalists showcasing their innovations. The Luncheon will begin at noon. Mr. Greg Butterfield, managing partner at SageCreek Partners and former president and CEO of Altiris will deliver the keynote address.
