The UK Ambassador to the United States Sir Peter Westmacott gave a talk recently on the UK-Utah business relations at the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce. World Trade Center Utah has partnered in organizing this event with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and the Salt Lake Chamber. Spender Eccles, Executive Director of the Governor's Office of Economic Development, Franz Kolb, Diplomacy Director ITDO and Elizabeth Goryunova, President & CEO, WTCUtah welcomed the Ambassador and reflected upon the significance of the United Kingdom to Utah international trade, and by extension to its economic development and to Utah business community at large.

Ambassador Westmacott noted that the links between Utah and the UK run deep. 31% of Utah exports, valued at nearly $6 billion per year, are bound for the UK, more than double the percentage of any other state.  Ambassador called his visit to Utah “interesting and educative”, he also praised Utah’s low unemployment rate and for being a role model for the rest of the nation. In conclusion of the meeting the Ambassador answered question from representatives of Utah business community.
